Ever since I was a teenager, I never really had a problem with pimples. Of course I break out (with one or two zits) during that time of the month but I was generally pimple-free. Then came the Great Break Out of 2015. I was a senior college student which meant I was busier than ever and my skin suffered. The sleepless nights and stress took a toll on my face and I kept having pimple on my chin. What used to only be three days of extreme insecurity (sponsored by the nasty pimple) became only three days of confidence because I swear, just as one pimple is drying up and healing, another one is threatening to pop up. SO STRESSFUL. So since last year (when I came to a realization that St. Ive’s apricot scrub isn’t doing anything for me anymore), I’m constantly on the look out for skincare products that would help me break out less.

First up, I tried Cetaphil. It was actually good, it was very mild but it didn’t help get rid of the pimples nor did it prevent them from popping up. Then I tried The Face Shop’s Acne Solution Foam Cleansing which did nothing for me as well except to make my face really dry after cleansing (which I know really is the effect since it’s supposed to dry out your pimples, but still). So I decided to try out Soul Skincare and Cosmetics’ Spot Me Clear line. I came across this up and coming skincare brand on Instagram as it is a brainchild of our former SBC Student Council president (hehe ANIMO). Their Spot Me Clear! beauty regimen claims to “kick away all those pimples and unwanted pimple marks” and of course I wanted that too so why shouldn’t I give it a go?

Here are the contents of the loot bag I received from them:

Spot Me Clear! Cleansing Bar. It contains lemon extract, green tea, and natural orange that helps you be free from pimples leading to clear and healthy skin.

Spot Me Clear! Cleansing Potion. This toner contains apple cider vinegar (hence, the subtle sour smell), green tea, and lemon extract that aims to erase pimples to give a clear and healthy glow.

Spot Me Clear! Light Cream. Serving a double purpose of being a nightly regimen and a make-up base, this moisturizer contains aloe vera and natural oils.

After two weeks of using these products everyday (morning and evening) here’s my verdict:

My skin reacted/adjusted well to the products. I only had a pimple once (it was after my period was over which is normal for me) and it did not end up making my skin feel tight. Although it did not prevent my post-period pimple from popping up, it did lessen the redness and it helped dry it up faster. It is my first time to use a toner and I was satisfied with how it took out the remaining dirt from my face after cleansing. The cream smells good! I like facial creams that doesn’t smell perfume-y, and Soul’s just smells fresh. I would suggest though that instead of it being in a tiny pot, it would be easier if it were in a squeeze-out tube so as to manage how much of the product goes on better. But I like the finish as it doesn’t leave my face feeling oily and slimy — it feels matte-like so it’s a major plus. Overall, I had a good experience with the products and they did not irritate my skin at all. I guess it’s the perk of going organic! 😀

I am still on the search for the ultimate skincare regimen but until then, I think I’ll keep using Soul Skincare and Cosmetics’ products, especially the toner and face cream! <3

What is your skincare regimen? 🙂

Still get pimples every now and then even after having kids. It’s actually good that you find the regimen that suits you while young so your skin won’t undergo into traumatic phase of battling pimples. For me, I find that sticking to a healthy diet keeps pimples at bay and of course sticking to the products that work. Great post and I totally can relate.

Thank you, Mercy! My mom’s actually worried that I might be putting too much pressure on my skin with the products that I’m trying out but I guess that’s just really part of finding a regimen that works for me. I do think that a proper diet has something to do with it too, but I’m just really too much of a junk food addict. 🙁 Hahaha.
