BRUNCH PLEASE: RUSTIC MORNINGS BY ISABELO

September 12, 2016

A few weeks back, Tim and I checked out this restaurant at Marikina. I’ve been meaning to go for the longest time and I’m so happy Tim agreed to take me! I’ve first heard of this place from Zomato and I was quickly lured by the bright and airy ambiance — I am such a sucker for beautiful interiors.

It was a quiet place, it has a very homey feel to it which I liked. They have an indoor and outdoor seating area. It was pretty hot when we went so we opted to dine inside but had the weather been chilly or airy, I would totally prefer dining outside surrounded by greens and breeze.

Now, I don’t have much pictures of the place and our food because I’m still a bit shy of having other people look at me while I take pictures. HAHA. And my food photography ~*skills*~ could still use a major improvement because of the same reason I just said. I think, if I really want to make a living out of blogging, I really just have to let my inhibitions go.

Anyway, on with the food! I love having breakfast for lunch or dinner — ok, I love breakfast food! It has that warm, fuzzy, and comfortable feel to it. Also because duh, the restaurant is called Rusting Mornings so I really thought I should go for breakfast food.

I ordered their Waffles, Buffalo Chicken Strips, and Salad (Served w/ Marinara Chipotle) and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT. It’s amazing how crunchy their waffles are on the outside but very soft or chewy on the inside. I was just thrown off by the buttermilk icing (?) because I thought it was plain butter — it is tasty but I just really prefer the usual butter. I was given a Caesar Salad and it also tasted good! Being the picky eater that I am, and given the fact that lettuce is the only vegetable I eat, it’s a huge thing for me to say that a salad is good. I didn’t ask what the dressing was but it created a nice balance. Now, onto the Buffalo Chicken Strips. They’re your usual breaded chicken strips but the marinara chipotle is THE BOMB. Hands down, the best dip I have ever tasted. It’s super tasty and I loved the hint of basil (if my taste buds were right, lol). Tim was so hooked on it too that he finished it off when I was through with my chicken!

Meanwhile, Tim got their Beef Pinoy Burrito. I got to taste a bit of it and it was good. It wasn’t out of this world but it was still okay — perhaps it could be more savory. I can’t talk about it much because I haven’t had a lot of it but if you’re curious it also comes in chicken and smoked fish.

RUSTIC MORNINGS BY ISABELO - BANANA SPLIT

For dessert, we decided to get a Banana Split. It was the usual banana split, nothing spectacular but I did enjoy the strawberry ice cream (I’m a strawberry girl through and through forever). Although, I wish we tried the Old Fashioned Chocolate Cake or Frozen Brazo de Mercedes instead. Oh well, it was hot anyway so the ice cream helped cool us down.

Overall, it was a good experience. I really fell in love with the ambiance. The food was okay, nothing that would blow your mind out (except for the marinara chipotle, really) but it’s still better than others. The interiors and environment made up for it anyway. And the service is really good too! The staff is very attentive and very polite. I’ll give this restaurant a 4/5 rating.

Have you been at Rustic Mornings? How was your experience? 🙂

You should go visit, Bea! I think -ber months are the best months to go visit because the weather isn’t as unforgivable as it is in the summer. Haha.
