It’s been a long time since I last posted something about skincare. I’m still not an expert but I’m very much still an avid enthusiast. Over the past year, I have given much more thought on what goes on my face and by now, I think I’ve pretty much got it. These products that I’ve been using for the past five months are now my skincare staples. I’ve never bought products more than once but I find myself restocking these twice a month! They’re doing their job on my skin and I’m very thankful for that.
The first step in every skincare routine is getting rid of all the gunk on your face such as make-up. I wear little (eyebrows and lip and cheek tint) to no make-up when I go out so I don’t double cleanse.
Safe Guard Derma Sense for Acne Prone Skin. I first bought it to try out a drugstore skincare routine and I liked it a lot. It’s so gentle on my skin and I break out less whenever I use it. It smells good too! I use it twice a day: in the morning when I shower and in the evening before I go to bed. (Available at Watsons and leading department stores and supermarkets)
Celeteque Hydration Toner. Another part of my drugstore haul that I really liked. It’s alcohol-free so it doesn’t sting, at all! But it does a good job in lifting away left-over dirt. (Available at Watsons and leading department stores and supermarkets)
QuickFX Pimple Eraser (not in photo). After toning, I put on a thin layer on places where I have pimples and pimple scars. I find it to be effective. Although you really have to religiously apply it twice a day to see results. My pimple scars have lightened and my pimples rarely get inflated now. (Available at Watsons)
NU Skin Moisture Restore. My mom just bought this home one day so I didn’t know where she got it. This moisturizer is a lot lighter than the Nivea Creme that I used to use before but I still only apply a thin layer because I tend to get oily when I put on too much. I’m still on the look out for a good moisturizer for oily skin, so if you have any suggestions, please tell me! 😀
NU Skin Moisturizer Night Supply. This is the one that I use at night. It has a different concentration than the day cream but it still feels the same so I still put only a thin layer.
Nivea Extra White Firming Body Lotion. This has been my constant body lotion for five years now. I used to hate putting on lotion because I find them sticky to wear but when I tried this out (in college), I found it lightweight. Even during summer, it doesn’t cling to my skin or make me uncomfortable.
Morrison Elbow and Knee Collagen Whitening. I’ve never really bothered if my elbows or knees are slightly darker than my legs or arms but I gave it a try anyway. The formula is thick so I only apply a thin layer (even though it says to apply a generous amount). My skin’s slowly lightening so I’m glad I gave it a try.
Koragem Japanese Collagen. I drink this capsule once a day before/after dinner. I used to think that collagen is something that only women in their 40s worry about but I was wrong because our bodies produce less collagen once we hit out mid-20’s. Collagen is very important in keeping the skin firm, hair healthy, and joints strong. And as a young adult, I need to get a jump start on taking care of myself more meticulously. Each box has 10 capsules in it and I have been drinking it for a month now. Because Koragem boosts collagen absorption, my hair falls out less now (and it used to fall out A LOT), and I feel less pressure on my joints when I work out. I can’t really say much about the firm skin because I’m still young and my skin isn’t on the verge of being saggy, yet. Prevention is always better than cure, right? For more information about Koragem you can visit their website, and Facebook and Instagram page (Available at Mercury Drug Stores all over Luzon, and online at Lazada)
TWICE A WEEK
Detail Lip Scrub. I’ve only ever heard of lip scrubs this year. I never really paid any attention to my lips except when I get lip burns during windy/cold seasons. But when I started to use this, I was hooked. I love how it always leaves my lips feeling soft and smooth. My lips chap less now because of this. (Available at BeautyMNL)
Sooper Beaute Cell Renewal Cream. This is the first exofoliator that I have used that didn’t have any beads. As opposed to other exfoliators, it also doesn’t visibly “peel” my “dead skin cells” off but after every use, it always makes my face feel smooth and radiant. Only con was that the container didn’t have much product in it. 🙁 (Available at BeautyMNL)
Skin Genie Pit Perfect Underarm Scrub. I like this scrub because it leaves my underarms really smooth and soft. I’ve read reviews about this that they’re also using it on their elbows and knees so I did that as well. I use it primarily just to smoothen out bumpy skin. (Available at BeautyMNL)
Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Pore Clay Mask. I trust Koreans when it comes to skincare so trying this out was a no-brainer. I use it after toning as suggested in the packaging and rinse it off with lukewarm water. (Available in-stores at Innisfree, and on-line at Althea, and BeautyMNL)
There’s my updated skincare routine! I am yet to do the 10-step Korean skincare routine but I wanted to find more affordable (yet effective and safe) products to substitute what is on the list. 😀 But I’m pretty contented with my current routine — I don’t break out as much, my pimple scars are lightening, and my rough patches are going away. I’m okay with being mistaken for a high school or college student but I don’t want to be mistaken for being much older than my actual age! Taking care of your skin is not vanity, it’s just you taking care of yourself. What’s your skincare routine? 🙂
